CF Miton UK Smaller Companies Fund

The CF Miton UK Smaller Companies Fund aims to achieve long-term total returns by investing primarily in UK smaller quoted companies.

The fund will focus its capital in the three-quarters of quoted stocks that are outside of the FTSE 350, investing primarily in AIM, Small Cap and Fledgling businesses.

The focus will be on genuine smaller companies where information gap exists and potential for mispricing and return is greatest.

Typical stock size for a top ten weighting in the fund – 3 to 4%.

Maximum number of stocks 120.

Gervais Williams has been investing in smaller company stocks since 1985 and has a proven track record and together with Martin Turner there are few more experienced managers in the market. 

The CF Miton UK Smaller Companies Fund aims to achieve long-term total returns by investing primarily in UK smaller quoted companies.

The fund considers UK Quoted Smaller Companies to be those companies that: re incorporated in the UK and/or have most of their operations in the UK; are listed on a stock exchange; and have a relatively low market capitalisation.

Gervais Williams – Lead Fund Manager

Gervais Williams currently manages the CF Miton UK Smaller Companies Fund alongside the CF Miton UK Multi Cap Income Fund and Diverse Income Trust plc and is Managing Director of Miton Group plc. Gervais has been an equity portfolio manager since 1985. His career includes 5 years with Throgmorton Investment Management (later part of the Framlington Group), 3 years with Thornton Investment Management (part of Dresdner Bank) and 17 years with Gartmore Group Ltd where he was head of UK Small Companies investing in UK smaller companies and Irish equities. He won Investor of the Year awarded by Grant Thornton at their Quoted Company dinner in both 2009 and 2010. He has sat on two DTI committees on the quoted small cap sector, is a member of the AIM Advisory Council and recently joined the Board of Quoted Companies Alliance.

Martin Turner – Fund Manager

Martin Turner joined Miton Funds in May 2011. Prior to Miton, Martin has spent nearly 20 years in the City. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen in 1995 before moving to Rothschild and in time on to Head of Pan European Mid and Small Caps Sales at Merrill Lynch. Following this, Martin was Head of Sales at Teathers/Landsbanki before taking the Head of Small/Mid Cap Equities role covering research, sales and trading at Collins Stewart. Martin and Gervais have worked closely since 2004, and their expertise and skills are expected to complement each other in seeking to deliver premium returns for their investors.
Martin is the Fund Manager on the CF Miton UK Smaller Companies Fund, CF Miton UK Multi Cap Income Fund (previously Acuim UK Multi Cap Income Fund) and the Diverse Income Trust plc. 

A bottom-up investment approach, with a diversified portfolio of primarily smaller market capitalisation sizes. The CF Miton UK Smaller Companies Fund will not target any particular benchmark.
